Upload and share files via OneDrive

Method 1 - Via the web app

  1. Sign into Office 365 and open the OneDrive app that is in the apps panel.

  2. From here, upload your file or folder via the
    1. "Upload" button or
    2. Drag and drop your file from your computer onto the screen
  3. Once file/folder has been uploaded to OneDrive, you can now share it with whoever you would like to. There are 4 options on who you can share the file/folder with. Those are;
    1. Anyone with the link
    2. Anyone with the link AND that has a Schreiner University email
    3. People with existing access
    4. Specific people
      1. this will require you to type each person individually in the next step.
  4. Select the option that you would like. Make sure you uncheck the Allow editing checkbox if you only want the user(s) to view the file(s).
    1. If you selected specific people, you will type those users after selecting apply.
  5. Next you click the way you would like to deliver that you've shared something with someone.
    1. If you select the Send button, Microsoft will send a message to the user with the link to the file/folder.
    2. You can also copy the link and share it however you would like or
    3. You can click Outlook which will open your maiilbox in another tab and compose a new email with the link already embedded into the body of the email, from here you can edit what you would like to say to the user.

 

Method 2 - Via the OneDrive folder on your desktop

  1. This method is almost identical from the first method, except you are doing all this on your OneDrive folder on your computer

  2. First, navigate to your OneDrive folder which will be located on the left pane in your file explorer (this will be in the Finder on MacOS)
    1. if you cannot find the OneDrive folder, you can open the OneDrive app from the bottom right corner of you screen, it looks like 2 little blue clouds. From here you can click the Open folder button and it will open the OneDrive folder directly.
  3. Once here, you can select the folder or file you want to share and then right click it. This will bring up a drop-down menu where you can select the Share option.
  4. From here, it is exactly the same as part 3 from Method 1 and beyond.
